What To Wear?

The holiday season is full of many social gatherings with family, friends, and co-workers. Deciding what to wear to such gatherings can be challenging; so, for some helpful hints on this seasons hottest looks we turn to Baby Maggie.

Baby Maggie is a firm believer that it is all about layers. But there is no need to go out and spend money on new clothes (especially after having to buy so many gifts already), you can simply use many of the items you have at home.

Here are some images of Baby Maggie on the catwalk sporting her latest fashion ensembles:

A stretched out head-band combined with your mom's running head-band is sure to give some pizzazz to your outfit. Add yesterday's shirt hung loosely around your neck to help contrast colors and grab your green purse, and you are ready for any night on the town.

Underwear looks great with anything! This splash of hot pink borrowed from a cousin gives a fantastic umph to her otherwise drab outift.

The oversized shoes are also a great option for adding depth to the feet and taking attention away from your mid-section.

Cow bracelets are a must have item. Also, note the Hanes His Way tighty-whiteys. Putting them on inside-out and backwards keeps the outfit interesting by adding new lines throughout.

A girl should never go anywhere without her pink princess slippers, they work for all occassions.

The key is color. Adding a bright color to anything makes it pop in public.

No matter your social occasion, don't stress over your outfit. Following Baby Maggie's advice will help you feel fabulous so you can comfortably enjoy yourself. And remember, when in doubt, Mardi Gras beads go with everything!

Tag, you’re it!

If a stranger walked up and asked you to state seven random things about yourself, what would you say? What if it was not a stranger but a good friend who decided to “tag” you on their blog?

Helen, a recent victim of such an event, reports that she considered ignoring such a silly request since she is not a fan of “tagging” on blogs. But, after further contemplation, Helen has decided to give in and amuse her dear friend with seven random things about herself.

One thing about Helen is she likes to bake when she is stressed. “This includes any time that Bob is out of the country for work; when I think about the house that we will never be able to afford; when family is coming to town or when family has just left and we won’t see them for a long time; and when I need to escape my daily routine. I have done it since I was a teenager. I remember baking cookies after a hard day at school or when a friend was mad at me. It offers a strange sense of comfort to create something warm, gooey, and delicious in the midst of chaos.”

Helen also considers herself a major carnivore. “I can consume a triple-whopper with cheese and still have room for fries and a Coke. Put a slab of barbeque ribs, a big juicy steak, a hunk of prime rib, or a plate full of melt-in-your-mouth pot roast in front of me and it will be gone in a flash. The first date that Bob took me on I ordered a pretty large steak and the server asked if I was really going to be able to eat it. I made sure to finish the thing off just to spite her. In essence, I love to eat; therefore, I have to run.”

While involuntarily gagging at the thought, Helen admits that she hates to watch people consume food. “It makes me physically ill to watch or listen to someone chew their food. For some unknown reason Hollywood thinks it is important to do close-ups of people when they are eating and swallowing in movies and on television. UGH! It is more revolting for me to watch things like that than it is to watch someone get their head chopped off.”

Helen reveals that she is addicted to trash T.V. “I love to sit and watch shows like Family Guy, The Real Housewives of Orange County, The Real Housewives of Atlanta, TMZ, American Idol, Sex and the City, America’s Next Top Model, Grey's Anatomy and Dancing with the Stars. I have even watched random episodes of Gossip Girl and One Tree Hill. Some are just funny, and you should never pass up a good laugh. Others have so much drama that you have to watch, it’s like staring at a train wreck. I love it.”

Inherited from her father, Helen gets motion sickness very easily. “I don’t go on the teacups at Disney World; I can’t even watch them spin around without getting nauseous. I have to take medicine when I get on boats and I get queasy driving down winding roads. I used to wear special bracelets when I took the Metro to work everyday so that I wouldn’t throw up while riding through the tunnels. Fortunately, none of my kids seem to have it and I'm really happy about that because it's pretty bad.”

An oddity of Helen’s is the small dent in her head. “I have had it since I was little, probably around six or seven years old. We used to have a lamp that hung from our ceiling and it had a cord that hung down to the socket. I would sit and swing the lamp around all the time and then one day it broke off the ceiling and the pointed end hit me square in the head. My parent’s never took me to the doctor because I didn’t bleed or anything, but I still have a dent there. It comes in handy for a conversation starter at parties.”

Helen conveyed the final random thing about herself with a beaming smile. “I love to talk to my husband, Bob. When we first started dating we would sit in the living room of my apartment and talk for hours. Some days we would look at the clock and it would be 4 a.m. and we both had to be to work at 5 a.m. but it was worth every minute without sleep. We talked about anything and everything. One day, at work, Bob explained how curiosity really did kill the cat; it was fascinating. We still don’t get a decent night’s sleep because we are always sitting up talking about stuff. Every second of my day is spent trying to remember things to tell Bob when he gets home. He is the one person that I am always excited to tell things to.”

While Helen willingly shared seven random things about herself to appease her dear friend, she insists that she has no intention of responding to any “tags” in the future.
